The Treaty Section of the United Nations Office of Legal Affairs provides a range of legal technical assistance to Member States and international organizations in order to facilitate their participation in the multilateral treaty framework. This assistance, provided in response to specific requests received by the Treaty Section and subject to the availability of resources, includes:

• Advice and assistance to States in the submission of key legal instruments to the Secretary-General such as instruments of ratification and accession;
• Assistance with regard to treaty law and practice including reservations, declarations and the interpretation of final clauses;
• Advice and assistance to States in the submission of treaties for registration and publication in accordance with article 102 of the Charter of the United Nations;
• Assistance to Member States and international organizations to facilitate their effective use of the United Nations Treaty Collection;
• Assistance to States and international organizations in the drafting of multilateral treaties, including in particular the final clauses of such instruments.
