Limited Publication
In some specific instances, the UN Secretariat has the discretion not to publish certain elements of a treaty in the UNTS. In contrast to the Limited Publication Policy when the full text of an agreement may not be reproduced in the UNTS in its entirety, the objective of applying the partial publication method to a particular situation is to speed up the publishing effort by e.g. excluding certain highly technical and voluminous annexes, lengthy lists of products or schedules of service/product specifications which are otherwise available from the registering party. This is done to facilitate and make more cost –effective the translation effort and to expedite the publication of such agreements in the UNTS. The partial publication approach is a historically established practice which has been followed since the inception of the UNTS.
