in accordance with article 33(1) which read as follows: "This Protocol shall enter into force on the ninetieth day after the date of deposit of the fiftieth instrument of ratification, acceptance, approval or accession by States or regional economic integration organizations that are Parties to the Convention.".

Note

The above Protocol was adopted on 29 October 2010 at Nagoya, Japan, during the tenth meeting of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity. In accordance with its article 32, the Protocol will be opened for signature by Parties to the Convention at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 2 February 2011 until 1 February 2012.
