This database provides information on the status of over 500 major multilateral instruments deposited with the Secretary-General of the United Nations (including the texts of reservations, declarations and objections) and covers a range of subject matter such as Human Rights, Disarmament, Commodities,
Refugees, the Environment and the Law of the Sea. The number of treaties deposited with the Secretary-General keeps growing steadily. This database reflects the status of these instruments, as Member States sign, ratify, accede or lodge declarations, reservations or objections.
It is available in hard copy that is over one thousand pages in length and is published annually (three volumes) in English and French.

The above Convention was adopted on 11 December 2008 during the sixty-third session of the
General Assembly by resolution A/RES/63/122. In accordance with its article 88 (1), the Convention
shall be open for signature by all States at Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on 23 September 2009, and

The above Optional Protocol was adopted on 10 December 2008 during the sixty-third session
of the General Assembly by resolution A/RES/63/117. In accordance with article 17, the Optional
Protocol shall be open for signature by any State that has signed, ratified or acceded to the International
Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. The signing ceremony will be held on
24 September 2009 during the 2009 Treaty Event at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
